Exhibition Opening

Wednesday, June 29 at 6 pm

To celebrate the exhibition Nourishing Tradition: Jewish Cookbooks and the
Stories They Tell,
the Center for Jewish History is excited to welcome Bonnie Slotnick,
owner of Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks. Bonnie will share

some of her

experiences

with Jewish cookbooks over many years of selling rare and
out-of-print cookbooks, and bring a fresh perspective to the real significance
of historical and contemporary culinary texts.  For a closer look at the
materials on view, Curator Melanie
Meyers will provide a brief tour of the exhibition.
And—of course—refreshments will be served.

On view in The David Berg Rare Book Room at the Center for Jewish History, Nourishing Tradition features objects from the collections of all five Center
partners—American Jewish Historical Society, American Sephardi Federation, Leo
Baeck Institute, Yeshiva University Museum, and YIVO Institute for Jewish Research—and
they illustrate the diverse, rich traditions of Jewish cuisine worldwide.
