On June 11th and 12th at the Center for Jewish History, we’ll give you a chance to preserve your family history on professionally produced audio. Don’t miss the rare opportunity to work with this revolutionary oral-history project! There are just a few recordings each day. To request a spot, please email gievents@cjh.org with your name, contact information and availability from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. It can be a life-changing experience–and your ancestors will thank you. We’re located at 15 West 16th St. in New York City.

Each lucky storyteller will go home with a free CD recording of his or her 40-minute session. What’s more, the oral histories will be preserved both at the Center and at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. As you know if you’ve heard the StoryCorps series on NPR, the interviews are usually conversations between two people who know each other, so feel free to bring a friend or family member to join in.

We’re thrilled to host this event as part of our series of free events, “Family History Today,” at the Center through June 22. Here’s the full schedule of events, including personal genealogy consultations, family-history workshops, illuminating talks and more. The Center’s newly opened Ackman & Ziff Family Genealogy Institute makes family-history research easier than ever.
