Rosenberg, M.P.A.,<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><em>Reference Services Research Coordinator, Center for Jewish History<\/em><\/p>\n<p>November 9<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0-10<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0marks the 75<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of Kristallnacht, a series of attacks on Jews in Germany and Austria that was a turning point for the Nazi Party. Kristallnacht is often looked at as the beginning of the Holocaust.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the five partners of the Center for Jewish History has material on Kristallnacht or the Holocaust. A search of the library catalog,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.cjh.org\" target=\"_blank\">catalog.cjh.org<\/a>, reveals over 730 records with the word \u201cKristallnacht\u201d in the description, and over 15,000 with the word \u201cHolocaust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The amount of digitized material available to anyone with an internet connection is similarly vast, with 550 results containing the word \u201cKristallnacht,\u201d including over 100 photographs and over 40 oral histories. Using \u201cHolocaust,\u201d there are over 1,900 results, including more than 300 photographs and 300 oral histories.<\/p>\n<p>The following is a small sampling of relevant holdings from each of our five partners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>American Jewish Historical Society<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The oral history of Fred Margulies contains memories of Kristallnacht. It has been digitized and is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/access.cjh.org\/1540104\" target=\"_blank\">available online<\/a>.<a href=\"https:\/\/webmail.cjh.org\/owa\/redir.aspx?C=31bbd093cb084d5fa8e78296a105a25d&amp;URL=http%3a%2f%2faccess.cjh.org%2f1540104\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are digitized letters on the conditions in the displaced persons camps.
