This morning, in her introduction to the first working session, Carol A. Mandel (Dean, Division of Libraries, New York University) outlines three tasks for our conference participants:
First, they should think about what they know from their own scholarship, experience and projects that can be of use in thinking about the projects that are being presented here today. Making these projects “better” can mean a lot of things; perhaps there is a way to make the content richer or to expand the access…
Second, they should think about and listen for trends that can inform future work–especially trends that show that we could be doing more sharing, joining together to think about what we could develop, and coming together to develop what we need.
Third, conference participants should consider whether there are new levels of integration that could benefit scholars. (Caution: The word “integration” can mean many different things to many different people.)
